Philadelphia, PA June 7, 2018Aon announced today that their Equity Services group has launched EquiTV, a library of videos focusing on equity compensation education that can be customized to a company’s specific stock plans. EquiTV covers a variety of equity compensation vehicles including stock options, restricted stock units, employee stock purchase plans (ESPPs) and performance equity, and are delivered using cutting-edge interactive technology giving participants more control in how they access and digest content.

The use of equity is very common in today’s public company landscape, but the perceived value of equity from the standpoint of participants is often much lower than companies would like due to the complexities inherent with equity compensation and broad confusion on how equity instruments actually work.  Companies recognize this lack of understanding exists, but rarely have budgets to address it through typical corporate education programs focused on broader retirement and health plans. The Equity Services team at Aon created EquiTV to help companies address this problem.

"One of the longest running problems within equity compensation is the lack of understanding and appreciation by plan participants, and companies’ limited budgets to address this knowledge gap.” says John Hammond, Aon’s Equity Communication Practice Leader.  “We created EquiTV to change the narrative around equity and build scaled video content that is customized to match a company’s plans and brand, but at off-the-shelf prices. Finally, companies can provide education around these programs quickly and efficiently without a drain on internal resources.”

Within EquiTV, the topics underlying each equity compensation vehicle are robust, including grant acceptance, vesting, taxation and more. The content is also based in short-segment, 2-D animation, leveraging interactive ‘choose-your-own-path’ elements that improve engagement and help sustain the viewer’s attention.

“Not only are companies getting access to cost-effective communication around their stock plans, but that communication is performed in a highly engaging and interactive manner,” says Terry Adamson, partner and global leader of the Equity Services group at Aon. “There’s a degree of humor and fun injected into the content to prolong the viewer’s attention and increase the company’s return on the investment of equity awards.”
